IUS Successfully Renews ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Certification
At the end of July 2025, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) successfully renewed its ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in administrative and technical service delivery. The certification was granted by the renowned German certification body TÜV Thüringen through its regional branch, TÜV Adria, and is valid for the next three years.
This important milestone confirms that the University’s General Secretariat continues to operate in accordance with the highest international standards, demonstrating IUS’s dedication to efficiency, transparency, and a user-oriented approach in serving students, faculty, researchers, and administrative staff.
The certification applies to the management of administrative processes and highlights IUS's systematic focus on continuous improvement through strategic planning and rigorous monitoring of all key operations.
The external quality audit was conducted on May 15, 2025, by TÜV Adria’s expert team. The audit included a thorough review of documentation, procedures, responsibilities, and implementation of the University’s quality policy. The results showed full compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards, with no non-conformities found—further confirming IUS’s professionalism and quality-driven culture at all levels of governance.
Preparation for the external audit involved comprehensive internal reviews carried out by the IUS Office for Strategic Development in collaboration with the General Secretariat. These included risk assessments, process evaluations, and the development of improvement measures aligned with the University's strategic goals.
As outlined in its 2022–2026 Development Strategy, IUS remains committed to applying internationally recognized quality management principles. These include regular SWOT analyses, the implementation of the PDCA (Plan – Do – Check – Act) cycle, and a strong focus on fostering a culture of quality across all academic and administrative functions.
The renewal of the ISO certificate is not merely a procedural achievement—it reflects a long-term, systematic approach to institutional excellence. Over the past years, IUS has earned a number of international accreditations, secured high rankings in global university listings, and has taken a leadership role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
In addition, IUS has established over 200 cooperation agreements with institutions worldwide, reinforcing its status as an internationally oriented higher education institution. The renewal of the ISO certification marks another important step in the University’s ongoing mission to build a modern, transparent, and student-centered academic environment.
Looking ahead, IUS continues to prioritize internationalization through the strengthening of double diploma programs in partnership with prestigious global institutions and the planned international accreditation of its academic programs. These initiatives reaffirm the University's commitment to delivering education that meets global standards and aligns with the evolving demands of today’s job market.
